A few points to remember
- We welcome all leisure cyclists to our events – whether locals or visitors. Please wear a helmet and high visibility vest.
BIKES
- Usually hybrid bikes – 21 – 27 speed – reasonably light weight.
- Not really suitable – mountain bikes – particularly steel frame ones, bikes with front suspension (Unless it is equipped with lockout)
- Very unsuitable – dual suspension bikes.
- Lightweight carbon/alloy racers – or light alloy frame bikes are o.k. - but are better if equipped with mud guards,Rear carrier and lights. Any distance other than our Thursday evening or Saturday morning cycles lend themselves to an equipped hybrid bike – or touring bike.
Bike equipment / recommended extras
- Full length lightweight mudguards.
- Quality lock (The higher the quality - the less chance of bike getting stolen)
- Set of reasonable quality lights (Keep batteries up to date)
- Alloy rear rack (Carrier) 4 point fixing – for stability. e. Water bottle – 500ml – or bigger – fitted in an alloy (or carbon) cage,
- Side-stand.
